My “sked” partner, John G4PFZ asked the question on the contest net “is there an SSB “cluster” he could use ? (clusters stream call signs to your computer and you can pick each one of them in turn to work. Instead after a successful SSB CCs contest I thought it a good idea to share some operating procedures, new for me, which helped a lot. I had intended to write a review of my fb Begali Morse key but maybe that can wait for a further blog. It is also a great excuse to have a chat with local amateurs ( poor choice of a word as these amateurs are usually experts !) READ ON: Even though some of these programs can take some setting up, and can appear daunting with our experts on line (vhf 145.450) problems can quickly get resolved. And it’s really interesting to learn about the interfaces to the PC and getting to know my way around the various programs that can be used. I paid a lot of money for it so “money’s worth“ comes into mind. For me personally it compels me to get to grips with a lot more functions on my transceiver. Not least is the “use it or lose it” band use. (Mainly the rag chewers) And yet there are a lot of positives to be said for contesting. I have heard many times from many amateurs mostly on the 80m band, negative vibes about contests. ? Or for the interested newbie’s, read on…. I noticed some good useful information in the contest reflector maybe if you email some of that to me I can use it in the blog.Ĭontests ! No I never bothered, Don’t now much about them! what’s the point ! Complete waste of band space. Please email me at This email address is being protected from spambots.
